2017 Derrick Holiday Mugs

Each year for the Derrick holiday party, we design custom mugs that are given to each employee to have filled at the bar. The mugs are fairly basic 32 oz. white mugs and the graphics are screen printed on. Since these mugs are tradition, we try not to change the mug style and stick with the screen printed graphic application.

This can be a challenge since colors are limited and the registration on a mug isn’t always the greatest. In 2017, I designed the mug around a “Holiday Cheers” theme. The graphic was inspired by typographic craft beer can and bottle labels, and of course, Santa Claus.

Fun Fact

The American version of St. Nicholas, or Santa Claus originally came from the Dutch version called Sint Nikolaas or Sinterklaas. The Dutch settlers in New Amsterdam (New York) brought this fun and lively tradition (some even say cult) to America.
